Grand Finals and Finals this Weekend 29-30 August

This weekend sees 5 Sans Souci teams contesting their respective Grand Finals in what has again been a great season for Sans Souci.

There are still another 7 teams who will play their semi finals or finals this weekend and we already have another handful of teams already qualified for grand finals next week.

Under 18A's v Lugarno

Our under 18's team is our most successful team in the club this year. With them coming first in the under 18 A grade competition it sees them qualify as the St George entrant in the statewide under 18 Champion of Champions tournament.

Well done to coach Wayne Mifsud who has put together a great team who have been successful all season and results have shown that they will be very hard to beat this weekend. This year also saw many of the lads back up for our Premier League teams which shows their dedication to the club and their ability to play at the next level. All things look good for Premier League in the future.

We wish them the best of luck this weekend and in the Champion of Champions. We will track their progress.

Under 14B's v Peakhurst Utd

Our under 14B team has done a fantastic job to get into the Grand Final after finishing the season in 4th spot. They have beaten both Banksia and All Saints in the finals to qualify for the grand final. They will play a Peakhurst Utd team who lost only two games all season and there is no doubt our boys will be the underdogs but they have beaten two tough teams along the way there is no reason why they can't beat Peakhust as well. Good luck boys.

Under 10C's v Penshurst West

Our 10C's were undeafeated this year and won the minor premiership by 6 points. They will play a Penshurst West team who finished the season in second spot but were able to win the major semi against our boys in the first week of the finals. So the boys had to qualify the hard way but were able to win the final last week and will now have a chance at redemption against Penshurst again. It seems to be a battle of our defence which only conceeded 6 goals all year against a Penshurst attack who were able to score a huge 62 goals this year. For Sans Souci teams it's perhaps the most anticipated clash of all the grand finals.

All Age C's v Arncliffe Aurora

Our All Age C's are another team that has qualified from 4th spot and they have done the hard work by defeating Beverly Hills and Connells Point in the finals. They will play Arncliffe Aurora who won the minor premiership easily but as the old cliche goes - anything can happen in finals football. Good luck to the guys.

Premier League - Reserve Grade v Kogarah Waratahs

Of course this is the team close to my heart and it has already been highlighted about their achievements in the last 10 seasons. This will be the 7th Grand Final that Sans Souci Reserves will contest in the last ten years which is a massive achievement in anyone's language.

Kogarah beat the boys two weeks ago in the major semi but only after a superb goal that broke the deadlock when Sans Souci looked like they might come home with the result. The 0-0 draw with Lugarno last week was enough to qualify for another grand final and another chance of redemtion against Kogarah. Sans Souci have not had fantastic preparation with captain Michael Cunningham, Pablo Alvarez and Fred Duarte all suspended for the game in addition to a raft of players with niggling injuries.

It should be a great game and good luck to both teams.
