Congratulations to all teams on their finals results last weekend and congratulations to our new Premiers for 2009.
PREMIERS
UNDER 14 B's ***WIN 3-2 v PEAKHURST UTD***
This result is a massive achievement for a team that ran 4th in the competition proper and then went on to beat the 3 teams that finished above them on the ladder. I don't know whether the game went to extra time or not but anyone who witnessed the game and would like to put together a match report please contact the club.
UNDER 18 A's ***WIN 4-1 v LUGARNO
Well done to our under 18 guys who were clinical in their win over Lugarno in the under 18's Grand Final of 2009. They have been the our best team this year excellently coached by Wayne who will now take them to Dubbo as the St George representative in round 1 of the state Champion of Champions Title. We will watch their progress closely in the coming weeks.
ALL AGE C's - ***WIN 3-1 v ARNCLIFFE AURORA
A massive win for the All Age guys who like our under 14's have managed to knock off the favourites from 4th spot in a huge upset. Again anyone who witnessed the game and would like to put together a report please contact the club.
RUNNERS UP
Bad luck to our other 2 Grand Finalists who were galant in defeat.
PREMIER LEAGUE RESERVE GRADE - ***LOSS 1-2 v KOGARAH WARATAH
Our Premier League Reserves went down 2-1 to a great Kogarah side who proved to be the best team all year. In a repeat of the major semi it was Sans Souci who conceeded a first half goal from a set piece and a far post header to an unmarked player. The score would remain 0-1 at half time but Sans Souci had some solid chances against the best defence in the comp.
The guys arguably had the better of the second half and scored an equalising goal mid way through the second half to Marcelo Alvarez which turned the game in Sans Souci's favour as we started to get on top in the game.
However, with 15 minutes to go Kogarah mounted an attack which looked to seal the game after a shot got through the keeper only to be desperately cleared off the line to give Sans Souci a lifeline. But just as the defence thought the attack was over, the clearance didn't go far enough to kill off the attack and a subsequent cross would then see another header at the far post to score what was ultimately the winner.
Congratulations to the Kogarah team who as mentioned previously have been the most consistent team all year and they have won a rare Minor Premiership and Grand Final which is a massive achievement and all credit to them.
UNDER 10 C's - ***LOSS 0-3 v PENSHURST WEST
After a fantastic season our under 10C's also went down 3-0 to Penshurst West who had given our boys their first defeat of the season in the semis two weeks ago. They boys should be very proud of their achievements and we hope to see them all again next year.
NOTE: Anyone who took photos or would like to do a brief match report on any of the games please contact the club.
